N.J. Admin. Code § 7:14A-23.24 - Dechlorination
(a) Dechlorination
chemicals shall be applied in an area where the flow is turbulent and short
circuiting is minimal, immediately preceding discharge of the effluent. A contact
period of one to five minutes is recommended.
(b) If sulfur dioxide is utilized for
dechlorination, safety precautions similar to those for chlorination systems are
required, including the provision of self-contained breathing apparatus. Steps shall
be taken to prevent the accidental interconnection of chlorine and sulfur dioxide
lines to avoid an explosion hazard.
